Lairs

In each zone there is a section of the playfield containing very strong mobs (upwards of 40K HP), each zone has 3 missions. Usually 1x Kill several mobs, 1x collect something specific & 1x guard something.

What's there for me?

Inside there is decent XP to be had (if you need it), also each mob has a chance to drop a signet (green), a ql10 blue item (weap/talisman/glyph/kit etc) and a blue pattern piece. Also the missions give you a fragment for each of the bosses.

Bosses in Lairs

The ultimate goal for farming lairs is to complete a pattern for a boss and kill it. This mini boss will drop many items at ql10 blue, as well as 2 pieces for a purple (regional) boss. The mini-boss will also drop a blue signet or aux upgrade. There are several guides on each boss and their tricks. Including the crafting patterns.

Preparation

Grab as many (ideally 10) of your cabal mates, form a raid, and then roll the missions. The primary pattern maker should be the only 1 to roll on the fragments, as well he/she should have Ultimate Crafter mod (http://www.curse.com/tsw-mods/tsw/autocrafter).

Killing

Its ideal to roll similarly how you would in a dungeon, with maybe 3k HP for the odd random aggro. You dont really want to die as mobs may respawn between you and the group, making it a slow process. So stay tight, dont random "tab, shoot" and watch chat.

Missions

Each mission reward corresponds to a particular boss. The reward options will give you ALL the needed pieces for this boss. HOWEVER, during the questing the leader will have accumulated some frags off mobs as well. So NEVER just hand in your mission until you are told which piece from each mission to accept.

Fragment assigning

The leader wll have the crafting mod. Simply chose the boss you wish to make and it will give you the message saying "couldn't find xxx" Each of these pieces should then be assigned alphabetically to each group member. The reason to roll with 10 is two-fold. 1) more DPS and 2) more reward pieces^.

For example Boss 1 from mission 1 needs pieces 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.

10 people means each person can be simply allocated pieces alphabetically, 1st is 1, 2nd is 2 etc.

With less than 10 you may want to include pieces you have looted along the way. Eg. We picked up pieces 1,2,3,4,7

So simply assign pieces 5,6,8,9 alphabetically and then the remainder can all chose a different piece.

Faster = better

Other than acheivements, the only real reason to roll in lairs is to accumulate blue/purple sigs. The XP is not better than Quarry. For this reason your farming should be faster than if you were to grind zombies, or do signet missions. This means you want to move from mob to mob quickly, make sure you respond to questions/instructions quickly. The leader should assign loot quickly and if you have died, notify the group if your mission hasn't updated. If you take 3 hours to do 3 missions and only make 3 bosses, then in that 3 hours its likely you could have farmed the Airport or similar with better results.
