Trying to get back into TSW

I have a PC again which can run TSW, but I'm running into an issue.

The patcher just REFUSES to start under Windows 8

No clue about Win 8 and TSW... start TSW as administrator?

I ran it on both 7 and 8 with no issues. Not really computer savvy so not sure how to trouble shoot you. Check normal things like UAC off, firewall bugs etc. otherwise take to the forums!

Firewall off, UAC is always off, Ran as administrator, reinstalled in a standard folder.
Nothing helping, contacting FC currently.

Strange problem. Tried installing it on a different drive? (i guess you did)
I run Win 8, no problems with either TSW nor AO.

(and yes i've updated TSW to the newest patch, even though i haven't been longer online than 5 minutes in the past 3 months).

Got it running now, some strange issue since after rebooting it worked (I usually never reboot )

Haven't solved my lag issues yet.
Turning to DX9 or Tesselation/AA/AF off doesn't help the slightest bit.

It is strange but at some point I WILL solve it

Sorry Sui. Can you describe the issue, maybe we'll have an idea? I know you had insane lag in Eldorado...

Basically only a few regions run smoothly, like london. The rest all me responses are extremely slow, when I press a button to attack the framerate drops under 10.
I tried updating the GPU drivers and all others I have. However I can put it the hardware can't be the issue. Even turning Crossfire off doesn't help the slightest bit.

The system itself is state of the art and doesn't have any trouble in other games:
CPU: Intel i7 3930k
Motherboard: EVGA X79 FTW
Memory: G.Skill TridentX F3-1600C7Q-32GTX
GPU: XFX Radeon™ HD 7990
Diskdrive: Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB SSD

I don't think it can be it but did you try without the sound card? Or change sound settings?

Been fiddling a bit, seems to run fairly smooth now.
At least turning Crossfire off on the GPU helps now. Figured out the older driver didn't actually deactivate it.... (always fun).

You're running with 2 video cards? I guess not all games are actually compatible with Crossfire (or Nvidia's SLI, note the same games ofc) and some just experience bad performances. There was even a compatibility list at some point.
