Good night, sweet prince.
Good night, sweet prince.
After long deliberation, I have decided that I am leaving Anarchy Online. In 12 days my account will officially be canceled, and I have no intentions to reinstall between now and then.
Anarchy Online has been a great experience, the game itself is ingenious in it's setting, and the community is undoubtedly the best any MMORPG has to offer, especially that of Athen Paladins. I am indebted to you all for welcoming a newcomer, I had been playing for less than 10 days at that point, and I was even Omni-Tek (Female was onto me the entire time!) Had it not been the works of Athen Paladins, specifically Ababe and Byden, I would have probably logged out of Anarchy Online that day for the last time, never to look back. However, because of their kindness to a new player, and the open arms of Athen Paladins, I was able to enjoy the game for years thereafter.
During my legacy on Anarchy Online, if I dare call it such, I met many new friends along the way. I wish not to name any, as I may forget some, but I thank you all for what you have done for me, in helping me overcome the severe troubles of the AO balance, and BS laden endgame/pvp politics. I know at the beginning of my playing, I was probably a winy little snob that expected everything to go his way in games, and that in a way spanned into my later career on AO - rarely attending raids, except when something relative to my interests had the chance of dropping, barely donating to the org itself, and lacking appropriate skill to be of any use in raids while I was lower level (and still arguably higher) - and never really using the skill that I had gained later on, yet you still kept me in the org. Though this sympathy for myself is no reason for my leaving, no.
The reason I must depart is because of the lack of interest in Anarchy Online, and gaming in general. I was expected Lost Eden to renew the burning flame that I once had for AO, but instead for some reason it smothered it completely. On top of that, I have been forced to leave Windows XP, and AO virtualization, though it works, its extraordinary laggy, even on systems that it shouldn't be. Finally, voice communications, which really kept me in game towards the end, is not quite operable on my system as is, even after spending days of google/try new settings/complete reinstalls of OS.
Verily, I have given this a lot of thought, and I have even followed Chrisax's unwritten rules of submitting a "I'm leaving" post*, and I just don't see me coming back any time soon. If I do it will be after college or towards the end thereof, after I have a job that gives me enough money to do the things I want to do outside of the house, and ample money for extra (After some figurin' I imagine I'll be living on dry ramen for my first few years (-; 10k/year in Atlanta + College = No soup for j00 - Though that's not for a few more months.) I will, however, try to log on to AORC on a froob account when I have a lot of spare time.
Thanks again for all you've done AP, you've made Anarchy Online a surprisingly enjoyable experience,

1) Wait a few weeks after a negative ingame incident.
2) Think it through.
3) Be sober.
4) You will be sooner than you foresee, you just don't know it yet.

Well I'm sorry to see you go Iqqy..
I can understand you're leaving, LE isn't that good for me either, I just think it will be a hell of a lot more fun when I get to L210 for battlestation pvp
Anyways, be sure to log on every now and then, and we might see you back.. In this AO, or maybe there will be an AO2 some day?

I'm sorry to see you leaving Iqloo. You were (and are) indeed a very fun an unusual character in the org. Despite what you said above, I remeber some raids or teams that relied on your mezzing sklills and where you saved our lives... and our time! (And, no, you had nothing to get from those events).
I can understand why you are leaving. But even if there are better games, they finally all look empty after a while due to the lack of the great thing the AO community is. Sooner or later we miss that community. And we need to hate FC and their hamsters so much!
I hope you'll keep in touch with us and drop us a line from time to time here. I also hope we'll see a mini-Iqloo (Miniqloo ?) logging on some day on a froob account. I'm sure he could become a maxiqloo fast. And, of course, I hope we'll see the vintage Iqloo back online another day later...
Take care Iqloo! We'll be there for you!
Side note: Alpha: Battlestations are really fun. I hope they will be open to more levels ranges soon. Just level and join, in the meantime! 8)

best wishes Iq ... come back when you get the bug.
BTW, while I'm sure people will groan ... here is the hint to surviving the Ramen years: powdered mashed potato flakes. Once the Ramen is made and cooling, add just enough flakes to thicken it. If you're feeling like splurging, add ham lunchment sliced into small chunks and/or cheese.
I had to do that for Thanksgiving one year even ... sucked ... but yet somehow tasty.

Wow Iqloo (with a q), sad to see you go m8. We had some fun times camping your social JUNK, with no drops, and good times on comms. You even taught me all you knew about building a gimp 210+ crat, (I still have that char to prove it), you were very good at that! Have fun in rl bro! Sorry I dont have any recipes to help you on your quest, I had to stick to fast food, as I had no dishes o.O. Goodbye Iggy

Hehe.. torture me even more They are open to everyone from L20+, but, the range under 210-220 is almost not populated, and my range, 175-199, is almost zero pvpChrisax wrote:Side note: Alpha: Battlestations are really fun. Will miss you iqloo, whom I always called igloo!!! Come back and see us when you can. I believe muddy had to eat lots of roman noodles in his school and army days. He knows how to make them taste good. Its a good time of year to eat soup with all the cold winter days and nights...Ty for the help you gave me when I first started my crat!!!
Sorry to see you go Iqloo, but learning stuff > AO anyways. I hope you decided to move, as we discussed on MSN.
I have around 15 dollars to buy food for the rest of this month, however I was smart enough to get a job as a programmer where the company has free breakfast/lunch and dinner - so if I need food I just go work ;p Works just fine in hard times
Not gonna be going out drinking this month tho, nerf><
